I have officially been working on the newest version of my site! Well over a year ago I planned the grand re-design and for the last 11 months it hasn't changed until a few weeks ago. In another amazing case of procrastination fueled productivity I finished the rendering engine for the newest iteration of my site!

It's being run from a VM on my server at home so it may have some downtime while I mess about a bit and due to other things on port 80, the test server is sitting on port 81 for now. Please keep in mind that this is a live dev environment. If it is dead when you try it, come back again later and I'll likely have fixed the problem. Also prone to displaying tons of debugging information at a whim.

For those of you who can't be bothered going there, or have managed to block port 81 outbound, here is a screenshot I prepared earlier:

At the moment there are some firefox rendering issues due to table elements being made high enough to fit font into even when there is no font. Also it doesn't draw the block elements for the menu when its content type is set to application/xhtml+xml so don't bother point either of these out unless you have a solution. If you do have a solution leave a comment PLEASE!

Hope to see you all back for the grand opening which will be announced later this week (maybe).

Have a happy Christmas and best of luck in the new year.

Current projects
In category Site on 05 Apr 2007 @ 09:05 pm
In a flagrant disregard for modesty. I am doing some shamelessly self-promoting by putting up a list of brilliant projects that I am working on, (but may not have actually been started yet).

These are all site related.

1. NEW SITE. Yes I am still doing it. No, not in any hurry. Yes it will be brilliant and pretty when it's done.
2. XDA-Developers ROM ticket system. To track bugs etc. new roms cooked up by forum members. PRIORITY.
3. Flickr image transferring. I post all my photos to my website where I have control over what happens to it, who sees it, when I delete it etc. Some people who don't feel like going to external websites to view the photos want me to also upload them to Flickr. I'm going to try build something in PHP to transfer the photos over to flickr using their API. Will have to look into this one.

Feel free to help with any of these if you have a solid working knowledge of PHP5, OO programming principals, and some idea of HCI design. Comment me.

Site outages
In category Site on 21 Nov 2006 @ 01:17 am
Just an update of what's going on with that. I have no idea what's going on with that. Apparently this was a planned outage to do an update that was 'unsuccessful' at last attempt. But they forgot to tell anyone about it. Even if they had, I still can't see the forums.

This is a notice that I am starting work on a new version of my site. A nice OO PHP XML based monstrosity. If anyone is desperately bored or has thought of some features that this version is lacking then please leave a comment asap. Last time I did this everyone's suggestions came in too late and I couldn't be bothered going back to reimplement things. So now is your chance!

It will be as customisable as possible from making it single user/multi user to being able to change the template per session or computer. Maybe this time I'll even write the backend administration pages to control everything instead of just using a text editor on config files. One can only hope.
