Happy New Year

Let us all celebrate by choosing between versions of the first photo I took for the year! Be awestruck.
Original:

Modified:

If you think it could be made better please give it a quick go or describe what you mean and email me or leave me a comment and it would be much appreciated. I'm always looking for tips, tricks or just general advice to better my art (or hobby). I'd also appreciate better title suggestions (so there is no need to point out that mine is rubbish.
Thanks.
Hope you all have a good new year!

I like the unmodified original as well: the natural earth scenery showcases the sky's mystique...

I think the first one was most beautiful. While I like the contrast of the sky in the modified one, the color of the grass in the original is beautiful, the red against the green is gorgeous. The modified doesn't do any justice to the ground.

What do you think then? Contrast++ the first one and just see what happens? I'll put it in the comments here if i get around to it.

Do a selective desat on the red/orange channel in the first and then bump up the contrast. Possibly bump down luminance on the green channel just a touch and it'll be all fancylike.

Awesome idea scruff. Did you have a go at doing this first or will I have to wait until I get home to see what it's going to look like?
Put a link to it here somewhere if you managed to do it.
