Wired remote for a Canon 400D: $4

So instead of buying a $40 remote which is literally a 2-stage button and a switch.. I chose to make a more elegant (even if it's slightly less featured) remote of my own.

It is literally a toggle switch, 30cm of wire (I bought 2 metres but wanted a short one) and a 2.5mm headphone jack. I left off the wake-up/focus switch as I found it unnecessary.
Simply solder the ends of the wire to the outer 2 pins of the plug, and join these to the 2 pins on the switch. Pressing mine halfway takes a normal photo, pressing it completely locks the shutter button down for bulb exposures. Total cost (including 5ft of unused wire) was $3.86 at Dick Smiths.
I win!

I figured if I was going to bother making one, I'd put all the buttons on it. Of course I was foiled by a piece of dodgy cable, but I'll fix that eventually, at least the shoot and bulb switches work :)

You should put a proper picture up, now you have your camera.

I could but it really just is a button, a wire and a plug. 1.3MP or not it's not very interesting.
Plus I'm going to bed.
