Inline CSS hyperlink color

I tried and I tried but I can't find out how to set a link colours from a div to a link inside it..
<div class="something" style="purple links"><a href="purple.html">i am purple</a></div>
If anyone has a solution please let me know but I get the impression that it's impossible.

Can't do it like that because the colour it's set to is done dynamically. I need to be able to put the colour code inline.

}
