Please give me all your monies!
In category Geebin on 31 Dec 2005 @ 03:27 am
I was just chatting about buying a new PC and I eventually got sidetracked into somewhat of a wishlist rather than an affordable PC. Still it's worth looking at and you should all donate me your monies because I am your overlord.

First it had to be a dual core AMD 64 4800+ which is only like $1200. That's a socket 939 and seeing we're going for nice parts it would be going onto an ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe which is only a measly $405, (chump change). The motherboard supports up to 4GB of PC3200 ram and that would have to be 2x Corsair 2.0GB TWINX-3200C2 costing $419 each for a total of about $840. SLI motherboard, you all know what that means? 2x NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX 512 would most certainly do for any game out right now and for like the next 10 years. A pair of these beasts will set me back about $2400 for the pair. Well worth it. After this I'm going to need a lot of storage for all the games and software so four (yes, count them, 4) Seagate Serial ATA NCQ 500GB 7200RPM will give me a suitable 2 terabytes of storage for only $600 each. $2400 total. Put all of this into a tasteful Lian Li PC71 case (for $340) powered by an Antec Neo Highly Efficient 2.2 550W for $210. Of course 2 new LCD monitors are in order and after the success I've had with other LG monitors I would get 2x LG L1950SQ-SN 19inch for $450 each coming to $900 (for those of you without a calculator). I do like the Logitech G15 keyboard and G5 mouse I have ($140).

This monster PC comes to a grand total of.. $8835 (approx. 5 kidneys) so please donate money or your vital organs to this worthy cause. All this wishing has made me thirsty so I'm going to get a Pepsi.

not-richly-enough Maz
Oh No! I forgot the DVD+-RW and the DVD-ROM. Both LiteOn of course and they'd bring the total to an even $9k.

Only 7200rpm? You're not even trying sunshine.

I'd rather the extra storage to the fairly useless advantage of 10000 rpm disks.

I try to give you my monies but you never accept them. Even when you need them.

I'm going to be building a few PC's when I get back. If you want one done just tell me how much you want to spend and what you need it to do.

have to side with kipps, you need the raptors (raided of course) for your main usefull storage (OS + games) and also your ram is weak. You need 2-5-5-5 timings... C2 doesnt do that. Try corsair XL... good luck finding the gig sticks tho...

Oh kay, I just got my hands on a cheap 3$ computer that may not be busted. If you want I could bring it over and we can see if we can get something worth while out of the bits?

The point is that I value the storage space and amount of ram over the speed. Don't get me wrong, I'd like space and speed, but if I had to choose I'd go for space.
