Features to add:
In category Site on 10 Nov 2005 @ 11:45 pm
It's been really irritating when I think of something that I need to add to my site, (wrote my own CMS), but then have to shelf the idea because of study and when I finally get around to writing stuff I've forgotten. Well no more! This is going to be where I keep a note of features that must be added before I leave for America. Here they are in no particular order..
1. Comment RSS, (I need to work out how to do this easily).
2. A TODO section for registered users.
3. Seperate RSS feeds for categories. Should be simple as the PHP is already there.
4. A list of my 10 last songs played (last.fm style). Or just some way to list songs I hear for people to complain about.
5. Timed entries. So I can make a post now and set the date for 3 days time when I'm going to be away. Current updates apparently keep the readers happy. (what readers. haha.)
6. Private entries and/or segments. (Segments: i.e. make most of an entry visible but hide paragraphs.)
7. DAMN! I forget.
8. Just neaten some of the design. Set the overflow of the menu so it doesn't squash the page or something.

I'm sure there is more that I'll have to leave in comments as I remember them. If anyone else thinks I'm forgetting something, just let me know. (And don't tell me that I'm forgetting that I have no readers, I realise that.)

^^^^ That's the sort of thing I need to add instead of having to type it. Just a winamp plugin to copy it to the clipboard would be sufficient.
Remembered one already! Descriptions and comments for photos in the galleries.

There's any number of already written winamp plugins that will send song info to a server of your choice, etc.

Also, might be worth building a backup to Gmail/somewhere sort of feature, so you can backup all or some of your site while you're away and don't have easy access to hard drives, server etc.

I'm sure there's plugins to copy to clipboard, as well as ones that paste the information and so on, but you might as well get one that sends it direct to your server and puts it on a webpage, and then you don't need to worry about it. There's even some that keep it dynamically updated, so even if you posted something a long time ago, it will show the current song playing, not whatever was playing back then.
