I was about to say how much improved the wireless around UQ is again as it dropped out. But they have updated the system so that when it drops out and re-connects, it keeps your login for a little longer. Which means I can keep browsing sites without first going through the http://login.uq.edu.au page again.

11g won't fix strength/s:n problems at all (although the card might be better) - in fact, if it's a weak signal, the speed will be exactly the same as 11b. (I found a spanky table at http://img.cmpnet.com/commsdesign/csd/2004/jan04/2wire-table1.jpg proving this).
Buy a pcmcia card with an external antenna socket and a $30 omni off ebay maybe?
